- TitleReport of PC George Daniels stationed at Shefford. He accompanied Inspector Elliott of the Royal Society for the Revention of Cruelty to Animals to a field in the Parish of Campton. A mare pony was drawing a plough with 2 other horses. The mare had a wound on the off hind leg and another wound on her shoulder under the collar. The animal was in considerable pain. Jonah Arnold was in charge of the pony. He had been sent by John Charles Revis, Farmer of Shefford, to work the animals. Inspector William Elliott reported that he found the animal in an emaciated condition, unfit for work, with a large wound on her leg and another wound on the shoulder where the collar touched it. Jonah Arnold stated that he worked for Mr Revis and had asked Mr Revis if he should work the mare because of the wounds but he had been told to work her. Owen Thomas visited Revis on 16 May and found a healed scar and a small wound on the mare and felt that she could work. He could not comment on the condition of the animal on 24 April. Fine 6d. Costs 35/-.
