Complaint of John Ford, Basket Maker of Shortmead Street, Biggleswade. He worked for Mr Wren in his Basket Maker's shop at the top of Rose Lane. His complaint was against Alfred Freeman, Basket Maker working for Mr Wells, Biggleswade. John Ford had shown Alfred Freeman an advertisement for work as a Basket Maker in Barking. Freeman had gone to Barking and found the advertisement was a hoax. The men there had collected money to send him back home. Freeman asked George Penny to hold his coat but he would not. Freeman struck Ford and in the struggle Ford fell against the fire place and hurt his head. Freeman said that John Millard and Robert Peart were witnesses. He asked that Freeman should be required to pay sureties to keep the peace.
