- TitleInformation of George Matthews, Keeper of the Beerhouse at Beeston. David Darnell of Beeston was drunk and abusing his mother in the tap room. The Keeper told him to sit down and be quiet and refused him any more beer. He became very abusive and struck the Keeper knocking him to the floor. Matthews ordered him to leave but he refused and stayed another hour. When the Keeper ordered him to leave, again he refused and knocked the Keeper to the floor again. Two other men were in the tap room and the the Keeper asked them to assist him. William Gammons tried to help but Darnell pushed him onto the floor. Fine 6/-. Costs 15/- or 1 month .
