(i) John Circuitt Shaw of Cape Town, Cape of Good Hope, builder; Sarah Shaw of Bedford, spinster; Joseph Shaw of 47 Mortimer Street [Middlesex], upholsterer; Henry Shaw of Coventry [Warwickshire], linen draper and Henry Lucas of Woburn and Mary Ann his wife (late Mary Ann Shaw);
(ii) Francis, Duke of Bedford;
(iii) Thomas Wing of Grays Inn [Middlesex], gentleman.
Operative:
- in consideration of £400 [£80 each] (i) conveys (a) unto (ii).
Property:
(a) Five messuages or tenements in Woburn:
- three being on the E side of Bedford Street, numbered 22,23 & 24 and adjoining the Great Yard heretofore in the occupations of Alice Goodman, George Sealey and William Sear and now of John Stiff, John Rickett and Joseph Burnage;
- the other two adjoining at the back and numbered 25 & 26 in the Great Yard, late in the occupations of John Rickett and Joseph Turney and now of John Farr and James Turner.
Habendum:
- unto (ii) to the use of whoever (ii) directs or appoints;
- in default of such appointment, to the use of (ii) for his natural life;
- after, to the use of (iii) in trust for (ii) or his assigns;
- after, to the only use of (ii) his heirs and assigns forever.
Covenants:
- no wife of (ii) to dower out of (a).
