Declaration by George Mellor late of Woburn, Beds, draper but now of Little Brickhill [Buckinghamshire], yeoman… ‘I knew John Piddington formerly of Woburn aforesaid Brazier deceased – that I recollect the said John Piddington purchasing upwards of forty years since from one William Rock certain cottages in the Great Yard in Woburn aforesaid with banns or outhouses belonging – and that shortly after such purchase the said John Piddington erected other cottages on the sites of the said banns or outhouses or otherwise converted the same into cottages – and that the eight cottages in the said Great Yard now sold by the Devisees under the Will of the said John Piddington to the Duke of Bedford are the same cottages which were so as aforesaid purchased by the said John Piddington or erected or otherwise converted by him ‘. - extracted by John King, master extractor in chancery.
