  • Title
    Deed of revocation and exchange Parties: (i) Stephen Taylor of Woburn, Beds, wheelwright and Mary his wife (late Mary Gale, spinster); (ii) Thomas Gale of Ampthill, Beds, brazier and Samuel Davis the younger of Ampthill, gentleman; (iii) Francis, Duke of Bedford. Reciting: - (a-b) was surrendered to (ii) in trust for (i) (see R6/63/7/13); - (iii) is seized of (c-d); - (i) agrees to exchange (a-b) for (c-d); - (iii) agrees to exchange (c-d) for (a-b); - (i) & (ii) agree to revoke terms of admission dated 20th Mar 1788 (see R6/63/7/13). Operative: - (i) with consent of (ii) surrenders (a-b) to (iii); - (iii) conveys (c-d) to (ii) in trust for (i); Property: (a) close of meadow in Woburn called Great Caswells of 3a 2r 25p; (b) close of meadow in Woburn called Little Caswells otherwise Castle Close of 3a 16p; (c) freehold close of meadow in Woburn called Hedgecroft now in the occupation of Richard Filkes of 4a 33p; (d) close of meadow in Woburn called Scotch Close now in the tenure or occupation of Mary Wythe of 3a 3r 1p. Habendum: - (iii) to hold (a-b), according to the customs of the Manor of Woburn Abbotts for ever; - (ii) to hold (c-d) in trust for (i) for their natural life; - after death of survivor of them, in trust for any children of Stephen and Mary; - in default of such issue, to the use of any person Mary has appointed; - in default of such appointment, to the use of the right heirs of Mary; Covenants:- (iii) grants right of way to (i) through (c-d) from Kings Road and through a close called Gravel Pitt in the occupation of John Clarke; - signed by (i), (ii) & (iii). - witnessed and signed by William Bodinson, Samuel Davis, Daniel Beaumont and William Jones.
