Letter from W.Bassett Davies of Middleton Chambers, Lowgate, Hull [Yorkshire], solicitors to Benning & Hoare, 11 West Street, Dunstable "Trawler Fish Co. Ltd. re 12 High St.South, Dunstable My clients the Trawler Fish Co. Ltd. of Hull, have consulted me upon your letter of May 8th, sent to their Dunstable branch. I cannot understand the claim made in your letter that this property is subject to Manorial Incidents. The Deeds in my possession relating to the property go back to 1873; it was the transferred by ordinary Conveyance, and there is nothing to indicate the property ever was copyhold or that it is subject to any manorial incidents. My clients purchased it last year, and it was conveyed to them in fee simple. The only outgoing or "incident" of any sort to which the property is subject seems to be an annual quit rent of 2/1d, but this is paid to the Town Clerk of Dunstable. Will you kindly inform me fully: - 1. What evidence there is that this property is subject to any manorial incidents. 2. What these are, the amount thereof, and when the last payment was made. On hearing from you in reply I will go into the matter further. The subject of this correspondence is of immediate importance as my clients are negotiating for sale of the property, and in view of this I should appreciate your early reply. In reply to the last paragraph of your letter, the Schedule "A" Assessment is £54 gross and £43 nett".
