Cut out from the ‘auction sales’ column of a local newspaper. Entry highlighted by a pen scribble reads… ‘Thursday, Oct 5th, at C.P. Cottage Farm, Wootton, on the Woburn Road, near Bedford – Important sale of Live and Dead Farming Stock, by order of J.C.Hill, Esq., the Farm having been let, comprising a flock of about 400 superior half bred Sheep and Lambs, 13 1 ½ years old Shorthorns, 20 Cart Horses and Colts, 2 Sows and pigs; 200 head of Poultry, and the valuable agricultural Implements and Harness. Sale at 11 o’clock. Luncheon on the usual terms’.
