    Letter from W.W. Marks, clerk of the peace to C.P.Hall of Park Farm Office, Woburn, Beds… ‘The Chief Constable for this County recently reported to the Standing Joint Committee that it is desirable that a piece of land adjoining the Ampthill Police Station, part of which is in the occupation of William Billington and the remainder is used as a garden by the Superintendent of Police should be purchased for police purposes. The Chief Constable also reports that the land in question, which contains about 29 poles, is the property of the Duke of Bedford and that His Grace would be willing to sell it to the Standing Joint Committee for £125. I am instructed to say that if these facts have been correctly reported the Beds. Standing Joint Committee will be willing to purchase the property at the sum named, and I should be glad if you would instruct His Grace’s Solicitor to forward me form of Contract for Sale and Purchase’. - includes a site layout plan of the property enclosed.
