    Settlement of July 1806 - attested copy Between (1) Rev James Wadman Alexander, clerk of Rayne, Essex (2) Caroline Greenhill, spinster of Sanford Place, Hackney, Middlesex, one of the daughters and younger children of Elizabeth Greenhill, widow, by Thomas Greenhill her late husband (3) John Alexander esq. of Bedford Row, Middlesex and Rev William Greenhill, clerk of Trinity College, Oxford (a) messuages and lands of (1) lying in Kempston and St Paul Bedford devised to him in will of Harris Thurlow Brace esq his late uncle 1799 (b) messuages and lands of (1) in Kempston lately purchased from William Long esq (c) all other messuages and lands of (1) in Kempston and St Paul Bedford or elsewhere in Bedfordshire in trust to (3) to the use of (1) until his marriage to (2), then to (1) for life, and after his death to any children of the marriage, with £150 pa from the estate to (2), and the proviso that the property can be sold or exchanged with other land of equal value in England with the consent of all parties Recites a marriage is soon to be solemnised between (1) and (2) Recites that under the will of Mary Hill, spinster late of Black friars, London, and subject to the life interest of EG, (2) is entitled to one fourth of £1,085-10s-5d £5 % Bank Annuities of 1797 now standing in the names of James Wallis Street esq. of Abbotts Langley, Hertfordshire, Thomas Greenhill, stationer of Gracechurch Street, London, and -- Merar; and to one fourth share of £315 like annuities which were purchased with money from the sale of 2 freehold messuages in Watling Street, London; and also to one fourth part of £500 bank and £3% reduced annuities, both the £315 and £500 annuities now standing in the names of JWS, TG and EG (2) agrees that the above entitlements will, on her marriage, be put in trust at (3) for the benefit of (1) for his life, then to (2) for her life, then to their children, if any, as they attain the age of 21 or, if daughters, they marry before reaching 21, and in default of such issue then to whoever (2) nominates in her will, on trust for her next of kin Recites indenture July 1758 between (i) Francis [sic] Greenhill, widow, of The Poultry, St Mary Woolchurch haw, London and Thomas Greenhill then of the Poultry but since deceased (ii) Joseph Browning, merchant late of Mark Lane, London then gent of St Bartholomew the less near London and Elizabeth his wife and Elizabeth Greenhill by her then name of Elizabeth Browning, spinster daughter of Joseph Browning and Elizabeth Browning (iii) John Browning esq. of Lincolns Inn, Middlesex and Samuel Dickinson esq. of Walthamstow, Essex being the settlement made prior to the marriage of Thomas Greenhill and Elizabeth his wife now his widow CG being one of the younger children of E & TG is tenant in common expectant on the decease of EG of one seventh part of a fee farm rent of £45 pa payable out of the Rectory of Long Bennington and Foston, Lincolnshire, also of messuages in Crane Court, Fleet Street, London, also £315 in £5% bank annuities of 1797 standing in the names of EG, JWS and TG and purchased with £300 from sale of freehold messuage in Old Fish Street, London formerly in possession of Thomas Beacon and Co: in the event of the death of any of CG's younger brothers or sisters without issue, CG will become entitled to some further share Recites it was agreed by the marriage treaty of JWA to CG that all the above listed property and money should be conveyed to the uses of Trusts by means of a covenant Witnessed by Wm Elley and Wm Upstone, clerks to Mr Alexander, Bedford Row, and Tho Paine and J.R.Carr, clerks to Messrs Lucan Lucan & Powell, Newport Pagnell
