Articles of Agreement: Lease between 1) George Palmer, gent of Goldington on behalf of Harris Thurloe Brace esq and 2) John Whitehouse the younger, gardener of Bedford (1) leases to (2) for £18 pa for 12 years from 10 October (a) messuage in St Paul, Bedford commonly known as the Green Dragon with the garden ground adjoining occupied by (2) with all outhouses, barns, orchards, etc. (2) is to keep the premises in good repair, with rough timber, bricks, tiles and lime being found and delivered by (1) except if fire or violent winds blow down a building; and at the determination of the lease (1) will buy and take off all the trees in the garden except the cherry trees which now belong to (1) together with all other stock which may be sown or growing in the garden, a fair appraisement to be made by two indifferent persons chosen one each by (1) and (2); with three months notice to discontinue this lease Witnessed by Richard Peet and G Palmer Jun
