Brief for claimants in the matter of the arbitration between the executors under the will of George Whitman, deceased [claimants] and The Railway Passengers Assurance Company [respondents]. Including amongst other things: - background to case including details concerning the death of George Whitman and conditions of the assurance policy he purchased from the respondents; - statement of George Martin Whitman: - I live at Aspley Guise and am the son of the deceased - The deceased was 87 years last August - I think that if the deceased had not been wedged in the tub but had fallen on the grass it would not have been fatal; - statement of John Butcher, groom etc. to Mr. Whitman: - On Monday the 17th I was in the upper garden with the deceased - The day before he fell down in his office - he has several falls lately; - statement of James Billington: - I work for Mr. Kemp On Monday 17th I was at work in the field adjoining Mr Whitmans garden - I have known Mr Whitman for many years and the last year or so of his death he had become feeble and tottery; - statement of Thomas D. Holmes, doctor who was called to the scene - I have no doubt that the deceased died from heart failure the result of the shock from the accident; - Drawn up by Frederic Tanqueray of Woburn, Beds with handwritten additions probably made by Charles Stimson.
