Reciting: - court dated 3rd Oct 1699: (a-c) and Houghton's Close were granted to Robert Martin and Eve his wife for 21 years at a rent of £-/15/-; - court dated 27th Sep 1722: Eve Martin was admitted to (a-c) and Houghton's Close for 21 years; - court dated 19th Jul 1731: Eve Martin, widow was admitted to (d) for 21 years at a rent of £-/10/-; - court dated 19th Jul 1731: Eve Gale then Eve Martin the younger, spinster and Mary Martin as surviving daughters of Robert Martin, deceased and Eve Martin the elder, widow were admitted to (e-g) for the term of 21 years; - court dated 16th Oct 1738: Richard Smith and Joseph Cook were admitted to a moiety of (a-c) and Houghton's Close on the surrender of Eve Gale, late Eve Martin; - court dated 16th Oct 1738: Richard Smith and Joseph Cook, since deceased were admitted to one moiety of (e-g); Operative: - admission of Eve Martin, widow; Richard Smith, gentleman (surviving trustee for Thomas Gale and Eve his wife, the other trustee, Joseph Cook having long since departed this life) and Mary Martin, spinster to (a-d); - admission of Richard Smith and Mary Marten, spinster to (e-g): Property: (a) part of a copyhold messuage or tenement with a shop adjoining and belonging in Woburn, formerly in the tenure or occupation of Robert Martin, deceased late husband of Eve Martin, widow and sometime since of Henry Rock, deceased and now of Arthur Rock; (b) room or chamber over the said shop and over the passage leading into the swan yard sometime in the occupation of Joseph Butcher, deceased and now of David Riseley, which said part of (a) was used as part of the Swan Inn, adjoining W thereto, E to the White Horse Inn and N into the market place; (c) little yard next to Duck Lane, Woburn of 1p with barn since erected; (d) copyhold close of pasture or sward ground at Woburn known as Little Caswells of 2a 2r now in the occupation of Giles Darling; (e) Swan Inn, Woburn sometime in the occupation of Joseph Butcher, deceased and now in the occupation of Joseph Riseley… 'being a corner house fronting North into the Market Place there and West into Duck Lane'; (f) three copyhold cottages or tenements adjoining together, fronting E into George Street and adjoining N by White Horse Yard and S by property of widow Savage. One cottage was late in the occupation of Thomas Whitt, cordwainer, deceased and now John Whitt, cordwainer; another was late in the tenure of John Hawkins and now in the occupation of Barnwell; (g) copyhold close of pasture or sward ground called Great Caswell Close otherwise Castler's Close of 3a 32p sometime in the occupation of Thomas Edmund, deceased; Robert Ramsey and now Robert Carey, grocer. Habendum: - Eve Martin to hold (a-d) for 21 years; - after death, one moiety of (a-d) to Richard Smith and one moiety to Mary Martin; - yearly rent of £-/5/- for (a-c); - yearly rent of £-/10/- for (d). - one moiety of (e-g) to Richard Smith and one moiety to Mary Martin for 21 years at a rent of £1/8/-. - entry fine of £70/9/2 paid by Eve Martin, Richard Smith and Mary Martin; - certified to be a true copy by R.
