  • Title
    Charge against Samuel Miles for unlawfully and knowingly, by certain false pretences obtained of and from William Cooper the sum of two shillings with intenet to cheat and defraud him. Information of William Cooper, Baker of Sandy that Samuel Miles of Girtford came to his house on Saturday and asked for work. Cooper said 'I've twenty poles of ground wanting hand weeding'. He said he would do the work. Miles said he would go and do the work. He returned later saying he had cleared the ground and wanted 2/6. Cooper gave him 2/-. Cooper did not check the ground, at Sandy Heath, until Tuesday when he found no weeds had been pulled up. Case withdrawn.
