    Victor POEGAL, aged 31 of 151 Coulsdon Road, Caterham [Surrey] ex Lance Sergeant, Coldstream Guards former butcher's assistant then regular soldier market gardening neurasthenia 11 May 1921 - training complete; the file includes correspondence regarding the fact that as a regular soldier VP was not entitled to a grant to help him start a smallholding, these being reserved for men who had not been regulars at the outbreak of war and had lost their livelihood as a result of the war; in this case the Ministry of pensions made a £100 grant to VP who argued that neurasthenia had deprived him of his livelihood as a soldier [ex WAT 4]
