Scope and Content
The book lay in the papers of Small & Son, decorators and plumbers, until about 1910. It was then given to the late Henry Parrott, foreman, by James Wilkinson (grandson-in-law of Thomas Small) because of the fact that Mr Parrott's family and that of his wife (Jeannie Appleby) were established in the Bedford of 1836. In 1914, on the death of Mr Henry Parrott, the book passed to his widow who gave it to her son because of his interest (as a Reporter for the 'Bedfordshire Times') in the Borough's affairs. It has now been returned by the son.
