    Depositions: James Jones, labourer of Sandy was in George Haynes Beer house in Sandy. He accused Jesse Lawson of taking his purse containing two half sovereigns from his left trowser pocket. George Haynes agreed that Jesse Lawson was sitting on Jones' right side. He found the purse on the floor, close to the fender. He heard Jones swear at Lawson and accuse him of taking the purse. He gave the purse to PC Chapman. James Piggott, Tailor of Potton, was in the Beer House. He did not see Lawson take the purse. He only saw Haynes pick up the purse. PC James Page Chapman stationed at Sandy went into the Beer House and took the purse from George Haynes. Jones gave Lawson into the custody of PC Chapman on suspicion of stealing his purse
