  • Title
    James Hichecocke/Hichecok of Leighton Bosard, husbandman, made 26 Dec. 1549, no note of probate. Burial in the churchyard of All Sanctes there. To mother church of Lincoln 2d.; to the high altar of Leighton 4d.. To his eldest son Thomas Hichecocke a piece of land containing 6 acres as it lies in the field and parish of Tryng. To his second son James Hechecocke an acre of land lying in Cobbull Croft, and testator's brother John Hechecocke is to occupy the said lands paying the usual annual rent to the use of the said children, and he is to make an annual account of the money to testator's executrix and supervisor until the sons come to the age of 18 years. Should either of his sons wish to sell his land, then he must offer it first to his brother, and should his brother not wish to buy, then it is to be offered to testator's brother John before any other. To sons Thomas and James 26s. 8d. each To his daughter Jone 26s. 8d., a featherbed with a bolster, a pair of sheets, a coverlet, and a ewe. Should the child his wife is carrying "comme to cristendome" it is to have 26s. 8d.. If any child die, then their legacy to go to the survivors. To William Child the russet jacket and best hose. To Thomas Warde his black jacket. Residue to wife Elzabeth, who is sole executrix, and William Dogget to be supervisor, and he to have 6s. 8d.. Witnesses William Dogget, John Hychecocke, Henry Howner, Henry Pemmberton priest. Should his wife remarry, she is to pay all the legacies before the day of her marriage.
