- TitleJohn Gefferson of Leghton Bosard [miller] made 19 Dec. 1546 pr. 1 Jan 1546/7. Burial at his parish church of All Sanctes in Leghton Bosard. His mortuary to be paid according to the king's laws. To mother church of Lincoln 12d.. A priest is to sing for souls of testator and all Christians for a year, and he to have £6, which sum testator's son Pervevall is to pay. Son Percevall is to give to 13 poor folks every Good Friday during his lifetime 13d., and he is to find a light before the Blessed Sacrament of the body and blood of Our Saviour Jesus Christ in Leghton church at the cost of 2s. a year, and he is to provide a similar legacy to keep the same light for ever. Son Percevall is also to pay for a yearly obit for souls of testator and all Christians at the cost of 5s. a year for 10 years To his brother Thomas Symonson 20s., his best doublet and best gown. To his son Percevall the remaining years of his lease and the indentures of his mills, with their appurtenances. To his son sir Robert Gefferson, being a priest, £8 in money or goods. To his son Percevall and his heirs his charter lands which extend to the annual value of 24s.. To his wife Alys 20 marks in money and also 40s owned to testator by Thomas Corbee and John Cowper, and this 40s. is to be part of the 20 marks. To son Persevall all his millstones, and all moveables. To wife and son Persevall all household stuff with a mazer and half a dozen silver spoons to be divided between them. To son Percevall all his timber and firewood and all tools and implements that belong to the mill or miller's craft. To wife Alys a load of faggots and a load of great wood, 4 kine valued at 4 marks, also 2 oxen valued at 17s., and 3 hogs of the value of 7s.. To Rober Yve, his wife's son, 6s. 8d., and to wife's daughter Benet 6s. 8d..To each of the children of John Foster of Litle Tringe 3s. 4d.. To each of testator's servants12d.. To every priest that comes to his burial 6d., and to every clerk that can read or sing 2d., to every poor body that comes to the burial 1d.. Residue to son Percevall, and he to be executor, with wife Alys overseer. Witnesses William Holand, bailiff, John Welles, Henry Brocke, Roger Esgor.
