    Depositions of George Cherry, labourer, John Cherry, labourer, William Bedlow, superintendent of police and Charles Palmer Stevens, FRCSE, all of Biggleswade in the case against William Bywaters for maliciously wounding George Cherry. Both George and John Cherry state that following a discussion about cutting briars in the Bushel and Strike beerhouse George had said to Bywaters 'you can cut my throat if you like' and Bywaters cut a hole in Cherry's throat before George Cherry and Bywaters left the house together. While walking in Stratton Street they saw Supt Bedlow and Sergeant Bransom who took Cherry to Dr Stevens for treatment and arrested Bywaters. 'Inditable offence dismissed'
