Scope and Content
"Furst I bequeth my soull into the moste marcyfull handes of Allmeghtie God unfenydly beleveing to be saved solye and only by the pretyus blode sheding of my savyaur and Redemer jesus Criste" and burial in churchyard of Deane.
To his son Gabryell a house and land with all the appurtenances in Cayshoo, with all testator's tools belonging to his occupation of smith, if son should practice the same craft. If Gabryell does not become a smith, then testator's wife to have the use of the tools. Son Gabryell is to have also 10 sheep. To his youngest daughter Ellen his house and land in Reysley, which house and land are to be given her on the day of her marriage, and meanwhile testator's wife to occupy it. He leaves to Ellen also 4 marks and 10 sheep. If son Gabryell die before his mother, or if he has the house and land in Casoo and then dies without issue, that same house is to be given to testator's son Thomas Pecke, and if daughter Ellen should die before her mother, or if after entering on the property in Reysley Ellen should die without issue, then that house and land to be given to son Thomas also
To his son Thomas a cow that is at Melcheburne, 6 sheep, the biggest grinding stone as it stands. To daughter Jone £4 and 10 sheep to be delivered on her marriage day. To daughter Agnes £4 in money and 10 sheep and a cow to be given her at the age of 17.
To the repairs of the church 6s. 8d.. To the mending of the high way between the Crosse and Cattes Stylle 6s. 8d..
To his brother Tomas Pecke 26s. 8d. "wiche shalbe debated in his Rente for the spase of iiij yeres" and to him also 2 sheep. To godson Nicholas Pecke one ewe and to Agnes, testator's brother's daughter, one ewe, and to his sister Davy one ewe. To Elezabeth Blackewall one ewe.
Residue to wife Agnes who is sole executrix, and overseers to be Master Richard Nele, brother Thomas Pecke, Richard Curtes and Thomas Negus.
