Scope and Content
"I bequeth my soull unto Allmeghtie God to his mother Mary and to all the holy compeny in heven" and burial in the churchyard of Flytwike.
Testament To son George Olney one acre of rye, a rood of wheat, a heifer and 2 ewe sheep. To daughter Alys Olney an acre of rye, a rood of wheat, a heifer and 2 ewe sheep. To daughter Agnes Olney one acre of rye, a rood of wheat, a heifer and 2 ewe sheep. To daughter Jone Olney one acre of rye, one rood of wheat, one heifer and 2 ewe sheep. To each of his children a pug.
To son George Olney a great brass pot, 2 pewter plates, a latten chafing dish.
Residue at disposition of wife Alys Olney who is executrix, and testator's brother Thomas Oney dwelling at Luton to be executor, and John Pylgreme of Offeley in Hartfordshire to be supervisor.
Witnesses Thomas Grene clerk and vicar of Flytweke, Thomas Olney the elder of the same place, Richard Davey of the same place, John Lawson of the same place, and Thomas Rolfe of Harlington. John Jenkinges.
Will Wife Alys Olney to have the goods of the children until they come to lawful age to be married, and then the children to receive their legacies.
Wife Alys to have all lands in Flytwike for her lifetime while she remains unmarried making the due payments to the lord of the fee. Should she remarry, then all lands to go to son George Olney and to his lawful heirs, and should George die without issue then property to be sold by his executors to the husband of one of his daughters, and the money received to be divided among all his daughters, each to be heir of the others. Should wife Alys remarry then son George to enter into all the lands at the age of 24, and the man she marries to give surety to testator's executors and overseer in the sum of 20 marks. His feoffees are to hold his lands to these uses.
