    Testament "I bequeth my soull to Allmeghtie God and to all the holy compeny of Heven" and burial in the churchyard of Wotton. For his mortuary "as Right is"; to Lincoln 4d.; to mending the way leading from Butlers Style to Wotton church 20d; to mending Bottende Cause [causeway] 2 loads of stone and its carriage. To son Thomas Stambrige 3 carts with iron shod wheels, and all the horses testator has on his death. Also 4 kine, and a couple of steers after deaths of testator and his wife, 6 pairs of sheets, a great coffer (which is to be a standard in the house for ever); half the crop of the ground of all manner of grain, half the tilth paying half the rent, and testator's wife Elsabeth to have half paying the other half of the rent. Wife Elzabeth to have in every field an acre as it lies ready ploughed, sown and carried home to the barn, and Elzabeth to find the seed, and son Thomas to do all manner of husbandry, and she is to take her choice when "harveste cummyth". To Nicholas Mylward the son of testator's daughter Ellyn Myllward a bullock, and to his brother John Millward a weaning calf. To Agnes Mylward daughter of Elene a pair of sheets. To godson Richard Stambreg a cow, and to his brother William a steer bullock, and to John Stambrege, another brother, a sheep, and to Johone their sister a cow bullock, and to Margret (another sister) a sheep. To each of the children of Richard Neghtingale half a quarter of barley. To each of William Stambrege's children half a quarter of barley. To Nicholas Mylward son of testator's daughter Ellyn Myllward, £6 13s. 4d. to be paid within 3 years; to John his brother 40s. to be paid within 2 years. To each child of testator's son Gabryelle half a quarter of barley. To each godchild 4d.. Should any of the children of his sons or his daughter die then their legacy is to be divided between the survivors. Residue to be at the discretion of wife who is executrix, and son Thomas executor, with supervisor William Borne senior of Wotton, to whom 6s. 8d., all to be done "to the plesur of God and helth of my Soull and all Cristen Soulles" Will To dispose of all lands etc. in Wotton and Kempston. All to go to wife Elezabeth for life while she remains single, and if she remarry, then she is to have a yearly rent out of the properties of 26s. 8d.. To son Thomas Stambrege and his heirs male the house where testator dwells and the land as is contained in a deed of feoffment, paying the rents and services, and should Thomas die without a male heir then property to go to testator's son William Stambreg and his heirs male. To son William Stambrege and his heirs male the house with the appurtenances that testator bought of Thomas Allen as appears in a deed of feoffment , in default of heirs male then property to revert to son Thomas Stambrege and his heirs male. To son Thomas Stambrege and his heirs male the house testator bought of Richard Crawley as contained in a deed of feoffment, in default of heirs male this to go to son William and his heirs male. To Thomas also a close in "Enley" bought of John Ayleston. To his son Gabryell Stambrege and his heirs male half a messuage in Bot Ende of Wotton which testator and William Borne of Wotton senior purchased together, (William Borne owning one half), reversion to testator's son Thomas Stambrige. Should Gabryell die before his heirs male come to the age of 21, then testator's executors to hold property to the use of the child until he comes to the age of 21. Should son Thomas die before Agnes his wife, then Agnes to take the profits while she remain single, and should she remarry then she to have 20s. a year for her natural life: 10s. at the feast of the Annunciation and 10s. at Michaelmas. Should any son die without heir male properties to be sold and money divided between his sons' daughters and his daughters' daughters, the sale to be made by four honest men.
