Scope and Content
"I bequeth my soull to Allmeghty God my Savior and Redemer and I trust and faythfully beleve that by the merytes of his passion to be one of the childerne of his Salvation". Burial in churchyard of Langford. To the poor man's box 4d.
To son Henry and his heirs all lands and tenements both freehold and copyhold, except for half an acre of land in the fields of Langford next to Aveswell Baulk and also a portion of ground testator bought of Henry Mun, which he gives to his son William and his heirs, and to William also 12 quarter of barley and a two year old bullock.
To sons John, Thomas and Richard 6 quarter of barley and a two year old bullock each. To eldest daughter Jone and to his middle daughter Jone and to daughter Cristian 6 quarter of barley and a two year old bullock each. And legacies to sons and daughters to be delivered to them on their marriage day. The legacy of any child dying before their marriage to be divided among the survivors not including son Henry and daughter Agnes.
Son Henry to pay [?to plant] the arable land during lifetime of testator's wife Alys with wheat, rye and barley, and give to wife Alys during her lifetime an acre of wheat, an acre of rye and 4 acres of barley (the best that she or her deputy can choose each year) chosen each year a fortnight before Lammas, and wife Alys is to have sufficient house room for herself and her goods, her cattle and grain as long as she lives, and the grain is to be reaped, mowed and brought home to the barn at the cost of son Henry and his heirs.
Residue to son Henry and wife Alys, who are executors.
