  • Title
Draft letter from Geo. Wigley & Sons, auctioneers, land agents & surveyors to Frederic Tanqueray of Woburn, solicitor concerning Mr. Hammond's land at Fenny Stratford, Buckinghamshire… 'We have sold this land, comprising about 31 acres to Mr. H.S. Leon for £4000, and it is suggested by Mr. Best who is acting for Mr. Leon that we should complete the purchase at Xmas when we could give possession. Would you kindly draw up a contract for sale, bearing in mind that the area of the land will be slightly less than the Ordnance Survey measurements (for which we have made an allowance) as a small portion was given for the widening of the road. In addition to this, Mr. Hammond sold to the Fenny Stratford Urban District Council a small piece of land for a collecting chamber, which must be excluded from the sale. The land comprises the field next to the cemetery, Big Ground, and the Lane, and the price is to include the timber. We have given no particulars of any outgoings so that there is nothing binding on us in this matter'.
