Eulogy of Jim Nottingham given at his funeral [see AU10/97/1] by Ronald L. Holt:
- he lived within 50 yards of the place he was born all his life except for his war service;
- his father died when he was 15;
- he had a cobbler's shop inside the gate of his bungalow;
- at 14 he worked as a butcher's boy for Eastmans Limited in Dunstable Street;
- he was chairman of Ampthill Parks Committee;
- he had a car specially adapted for his disability ;
- he had a pet aversion to the fitters of artificial limbs;
- in the 1980s he began a scheme to obtain compensation for ex-prisoners of war of the Japanese who might be in ill health as a result of their treatment
