- TitleDeclaration of Mr. T.E. Austin concerning the proposed conveyance of the George Hotel from R.L. Jones to F.J. Coleman… 'I Thomas Erskine Austin of Luton, Beds, gentleman do solemnly and sincerely declare as follows:- 1. That I am 72 years old and upwards and have for - years last past resided in or in the neighbourhood of Luton and that I have during the whole of such residence [?] also known and been well acquainted with the premises known as the George Hotel, Luton also 2. That the said George Hotel and premises formerly belonged to my brother Charles Austin and that he sold the said George Hotel to one Richard Jones on or about the year 1838. 3. That the said Richard Jones died as I am informed and believe on or about the year 1839 without leaving any lawful issue. 4. That upon the death of the said Richard Jones, Richard Lloyd Jones the son of one Morris Jones who was the eldest brother of the said Richard Jones took possession of the George Hotel and premises and has continued in the uninterrupted possession thereof up to the present time. 5. That I never heard at any time of any claim having been made by or on behalf of any person to the possession of the George Hotel and premises and I believe that if any such claim had been made (lots of crossed out words) must from my acquaintance with Mr. R.L. Jones and my knowledge of the property have been made aware of'.
