Letter from Effie Dibb to Andrew Underwood:
- she could not remember the names he enquired after due to the length of time and wishing someone other than herself could tell him about her own work at the school; included are specific questions and answers
- Question: could she give a list of Girls School head mistresses, infant teachers and head masters; Answer: no;
- Question: did Miss Crick head of the Girls School also teach infants? Answer: no, she might have supervised but did not teach;
- Question: could she draw a plan showing the position of the gallery in the Infants School? Answer: the gallery was just a succession of wooden steps the whole width of the room;
- Question: how long was she in charge of the Night School? Answer: two winters, there was not a nigh tschool for girls each winter as there was for boys;
- Question: were there principals of the Night School before and after her? Answer: not known;
- Question: was the Night School run by the same Managers as the Day School? Answer: yes;
- Question: what subjects were taught at the Night School and what was school policy? Answer: usually a continuation of day school subjects to encourage pupils to continue their education;
- Question: how many pupils were involved? Answer: numbers varied, never more than 15 girls but up to 40 boys;
- Question: was the Night School open to inspection? Answer: Yes, the HM Inspector visited and a report was sent as Government Grants were received
