The receiving order was made on the 10th Nov instant on the debtor's petition, and he was adjudged bankrupt on the same day on his own application 2. The debtor (aged 50) commenced business as a Butcher at Aspley Heath, Beds, in Apr 1907, with a capitol of £110, £70 of which was borrowed and is still due. He purchased the business from the previous tenant for the sum of £60, the remaining £50 going into the business. Prior to Apr 1907, he resided at Radwinter, Essex, for two years, and farmed about forty five acres, but gave up the tenancy on account of the farm not paying. He states that he had no debts when he went to Aspley Heath. 3. The books of account (kept by the debtor's wife) are Day Book, Debit Ledger and Sundries Book 4. The furniture is claimed by the debtor's wife, she having purchased same prior to her marriage with the debtor in 1900 5. Disclosed statement of affairs 6. The debtor states that he has known of his insolvency for the past three years, and has contracted debts since then which are now owing, in the ordinary way of trade. He further says that he has been trying to sell the business for the last three months, and although he has had a number of applications he has been unsuccessful in obtaining the order.
