    Letter from Audrey Lesher-Engstrom of Kalamazoo [Michigan] to Andrew Underwood: - she was trying to resolve her ancestry from Francis Nicolls; asking whether Margaret Bruce, daughter of George and Margaret Primrose was sister to Lord Thomas Bruce as when he moved out of the Great Lodge into Houghton House they succeeded him at The Great Lodge; - she alleges that Francis Nicolls did marry but that it was against his family's wishes and so was covered up; he served in the King's Guards and had three sons and a daughter, all born in England but he took them to the Netherlands before the Civil War, arriving in America before 1639 as a widower, settling at Stratford [Connecticut] [this is a retelling of Walter Nicholls' book - see AU10/67/3]; - his eldest son Caleb married Ann Warde, grand daughter of Sir Richard Warde of Gorleston [Suffolk] and the second son, Isaac, married Margaret Sherman
