Letter from Alma M.Rigg to Andrew Underwood: - writer was born and raised in Arlesey and married at 18 an American she had met at Chicksands; - Emily Beatrice Pearce remarried and became Emily Beatrice Lake; - her father was a professional musician, playing drums, xylophone and clarinet for Charles Perring in a jazz band in Torquay [Devon]; on moving to Arlesey he became a male nurse at Three Counties Hospital, playing in the hospital band; - enclosing two pictures of Crown & Sceptre, Ampthill and of her mother and her father collecting water from a pump at Ossory Cottages
