    Letter from David Asprey to Andrew Underwood: - the family had always been hempdressers and ropemakers and occur in Olney [Buckinghamshire] in the 17th century, progressively moving to Husborne Crawley, Westoning, Ampthill and Biggleswade, reaching Cambridge around 1840 when they became coach drivers; - he also notes the career of Joseph [see AU10/52/2] finding him settled in Biggleswade in 1812 whence they have removed from Ampthill in June of that year; in 1821 he had inherited a house in Ampthill from his father and his wife and children were returned thence from Newmarket [Suffolk] whilst Joseph was in gaol in Bury St.Edmunds; he had two wives and six children
