    Letter from Andrew Underwood to Betty Chambers as described in AU10/60/1 also noting a drawing of Crown, Sundon, at one time kept by his great grandfather Albert Underwood and where his grandfather Frederick James Underwood was born in 1870, living in Sundon until joining the police force in 1891; his grandfather related a story that, as a boy, he had to sit in a ditch guarding spirits hidden by his father so that the Excise officer would not find them; - Frederick James Underwood's eldest son, of the same name, was a police constable in Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard, Woburn, Barton-le-Clay and Meppershall before retiring on health grounds, having been gassed during World War One, dying in 1940
