    [f.238d] Thomas Jakes of Stoppesley in Luton, husbandman, made 3 Apr. [?]1547, pr. 2 May 1547. Burial in the church of Our Lady in Luton; to the high altar in Luton 20d.. All his goods to be divided into 4 parts, and "Richard Jakes my son to have between them ij. parts" [sic] and the other 2 parts to be divided among all the other children. Son William Jakes to have his [blank] called Howdayes after the death of testator's father. To wife Agnes his other house called Howdays. Son Richard Jakes to pay to testator's father Thomas Jakes every week as long as the father lives [?]20d., and also as much wood as he needs, and allow the father the keep of a milch cow, according to the bond made between testator and his father. Executors to be son Richard and John Punter, and the latter to have 20s.. Witnesses Robert Bisshoppe priest, Robert Woodward of Barton and Thomas Helder.
