    [f. 210d] William Cotton of Malden made 7 Dec. 1546 pr. no day no month 1546.Burial in the church of Malden. To mother church of Lincoln 4d.; to the high altar 12d.; to the bells 12d.. To wife Elzabeth all household stuff except one cupboard, and that he gives to son William. To wife Elzabeth also £4 a year for the term of her life to be paid out of testator's lands, of which 40s. is for her jointure and the other 40s. a gift. She is to have her "bydyng" in testator's parlour "yff she be disposed to tary there" and if she does not wish to stay, then she is to choose any of testator's tenements in the town.. While she lives she is to have sufficient wood for her hearth, and she is to have 4 beasts going with testator's son William's beasts, and they are to be kept both winter and summer with his beasts. William is to provide three of her beasts, and the fourth "shalbe William Brownes Kowe". To William Browne, testator's daughter's son, 40s., and to his daughter's son William Farre 20s.. To son William all his lands, tenements, meadows, pastures both freehold and copyhold in Malden. To every godchild 4d.. Son William to pay to son Richard 20s., the gift of Thomas Bacar otherwise Gardner, which testator should have paid. Son William to bear the costs of the burial, and to discharge wife of all debts or suits at law. Wife Elzabeth executrix.
