- TitleFolio 161d - Thomas Godfrey of Luton made 16 Apr. pr. 8 Jun. 1546. Body to be buried in the middle space in the church of Luton. To the high altar of Luton church for tithes forgotten 12d.; to the church of Lincoln 2d.; "Item I will have at my beryall a deryge and iij masses Solempnly sung in the said churche of Luton with the hole quere and also at my month tyde and yere tyde to be done in lyke manner. Item I will have an honeste preste to saye a trentall of masses in the said churche for me my frendes soulles and all cristen soulles and he to have 10s." To John Godfrey son of testator's brother the remaining years of testator's house held by copy, he to enter within one month after testator's death, paying the lord's rent and an obit yearly in the said church of Luton with the whole choir for as many years as appears in the copy of court roll. Should John Godfrey die before the end of the term of years, then testator's executors to fulfil obligation. To servant Thomas Ympey "my bastertt lome and my Lynnyn geres Item I bequeth to the same Thomas Ympey a blankett and a flexen shete. Item I bequeth to the said Thomas Ympee all my shop gere not bequethed And all the yerne both hare yeren' and other yern", on condition that Thomas Ympee pay testator's executors 33s. 4d.. Tosaid Thomas the russet gown. To Robert Webbe of Todington the "hayre lome ij Kamnies And ij slayes". Also a bolt of "hayre". To William Ympey a woollen loom and 2 "linen Geyres". To John Godfrey all testator's "hayre unwroght", on condition that he shall hire an honest priest to say two trentals of masses in the church of Luton for the souls of testator, his friends and all Christians within a year of testator's decease, giving the priest 20s.. To testator's neighbour John Stevens his doublet with worsted sleeves, a shirt and a russet jacket. To Margery George a flaxen sheet. To Thomas Abery a shirt. To William Day, fuller, a shirt. To father Butt a shirt. To Robert Stevens a shirt. To Agnes Rudd a pewter platter. To John Hill, cobbler, a shirt. To Steven Harrys of Chalgrave a bolt of "hayre". To the repair of Luton church 3s. 4d. To Elzabeth Wrayton a flaxen sheet and a kirtle. To servant Agnes Fyssher a brass pot, a posnet, a pewter platter, a pewter dish, a candlestick, a pair of sheets, a blanket, 2 kerchiefs and a kirtle. To twelve poor woman a kerchief each. To every godchild a shirt or 4d. in money. Residue to nephew John Godfrey. Executors to be Lawrence Stallworth and Roger Ockley, with supervisor Robert Berrikle', each to have 6s. 8d..
