    Folio 39d - Cuthbert Cutlat of Eaton [Bray] made 12 Sept. pr. 21 Oct. 1544. Will made when testator whole of body and perfect in mind but being at Guysines "in the chances of Warre" and "meche dredeing the casaelties of the same and to the intent to be in a perfyte dissposition and Redynes as concerneng suche small posession of goodes and catalles of the Werlde as god hayth lente me" Soul to Almighty God, the BVM and all the holy company of heaven, and body to be buried in such hallowed place as god shall dispose. Cancels all previous wills. To the high altar of Eyton for tithes forgotten 4d.; to the upkeep of our mother church 4d.; to the Sepulchre light 12d.; to the Rood light 12d., and to the torches 12d.. To repairing and mending the highway between the church of Eyton and Bowrelane [?]one acre and 3 roods of barley lying in Edisborowe field. To each of his three sisters a quarter of barley. To wife's daughter Elzabeth 40s.. To his brother Thomas 40s.. To cousin Agnes Stryngar a cow bullock. To John "my boye" an other cow bullock. Wife to have the third part of the wood in Flamsted parish for her lifetime. Brother Thomas to have a "yotteing" vat and a well bucket and a "Kyllhare" and the great table "att the hight dese in my howse", a great ark and a laver of latten. Residue to wife Alys, sole executrix, she to dispose for testator's soul as she would testator would do for her. On the day of his obit she to give to twelve poor households in the town half a bushel of wheat and half a bushel of barley each, to pray for testator and all Christian souls. Made at Guysnes, with witnesses Master Richard Hutton priest, George Wright, John Barbor, Richard Sanford, John Edwardes and others. Testator owes his brother Thomas 33s. 4d., which is to be paid, besides his bequest.
