    Folio 36 - John Tayler of Steventon made11 Sep. 1544 pr. 25 Sep. 1544 Burial in church of Steventon "in the medell spase". £3 to be distributed on day of his burial and 10s. at his month's day. He asks for 2 trentals of masses to be said for him and his friends in the church of Steventon. To the high altar 12d; to the Sepulchre light 12d.; to the bells 20d. Two new torches are to be bought and given to the church. He asks for a yearly obit for himself and all Christian souls at 6s. 8d. a year for the next 20 years. To the mother church of Lincoln 4d. To the repair of Harwold brege 10s.; to the repair of Stafford brege 10s.. Wife Ezabell to have "my howse on the hill that I dwellein" and all lands both charter and copyhold held by testator after the custom and manor of the lordship of Steventon, until testator's son and heir be of full age. To son and heir Robert Taler testator's lease of Beryfylde in the parish of Cayshoo and half the cattle that testator has in the said field, and son to have also testator's part of the lease of the parsonage of Steventon. Should son die without heirs of his body then estates to descend to testator's second son John Taler and to the heirs of his body. To son John testator's house called Hawkynges with threescore acres of meadow and pasture now in the tenure of John Rattelles, also a meadow close called Johns at the Mead containing by estimation 4 acres all to be held by the custom of the lordship. To daughter Elzabeth 20 marks sterling; to daughter Alys 20 marks sterling; to daughter Margret 20 marks sterling, and if his wife be with child and it is a son, he is to have testator's house at Pyxell with 30 acres of copyhold land lying there, and if the child be a daughter, then she to have 20 marks sterling. Should any daughter die, then her legacy be divided between her sisters. To wife Elzabeth testator's lease of a Mede Close at Woburne with testator's lease at Bromham, and also Reperis [?] pasture, towards the cost of bringing up the children. To wife Elzabeth a messuage with a close containing one acre of pasture lying at Scottes Style for the term of her life. Residue to wife Izabell [sic] executrix with testator's father Robert Tayler and son Robert Taler executors. Supervisors John Wylkenson and sir George Butman testator's ghostly father .
