  • Title
    Folio 27d - Umfra Kente of Felmersham made 16 Mar. pr. 12 June 1544. Burial in the churchyard of Our Blessed Lady of Felmersham. To wife Anne Kente 3 kine, a heifer, the worst cart, half the pease there is to thresh, all the household stuff which testator has bought and all household stuff she brought with her, 2 horses, and half the crop, on condition that she bears half the charges such as the rent and the cost of harvesting the crop. If not she is to be agreed with for half the seed and for half the "ereing" of the land. She is to have the 2 horses on condition that testator's mother is to have their use at harvest to gather in the crop, and after harvest the 2 horses to be delivered to the wife. To daughter Mary a heifer, a steer and a sorrel horse, his best coat, a gallon kettle. His daughter and her portion he assigns to his mother and to John Hoges. To brother John Kente a quarter of barley and a quarter of lease which are to be delivered now, if they may be spared, otherwise at Michaelmas next. He is to have also a russet coat. To his sister Anne a sheep with a quarter of barley. To brother Thomas Kente a leather jacket, the black horse and saddle and the plough gear, paying 10s. towards testator's burial. To brother Thomas the 3 quarters of barley testator borrowed of him. To Thomas Hoge 2 bushel of barley. To daughter Mare 4 quarters of barley and 3 hogs. To daughter Rose a young weaned calf. Wife Anne Kente and Johan Kente his mother to be executors. Witnesses Olyver Turvey, John Byrton, sir George Stevenson vicar.
