[Written by Mrs Helena Cooper. Undated, but the above date pencilled in by CHM ] I don't know if you may have heard from Sir Anthony but this is to let you know what a great shock we have had. Harry [Cooper] was found dead in the pantry last Monday afternoon on 17th sitting in his chair with his glasses on and his pipe in his hand & the paper on his lap. The cowman found him when he went for hot water, he was alright as far as we knew & did his work and went out for his usual walk in the morning he came back & did lunch & made his dinner & seemed bright & cheerful, so you can imagine the shock it was to us all. Sir Anthony took it very well, so when you write to him don't mention it if he has not already let you know. So poor Mr Bell has got it all to do now until we can get someone. I must close now hoping you are all well . . . . . .
