I am sorry that I forgot in my letter to speak about Woburn. I don't think that there is a day on which it is shown to the public, and the Duke does not live there but in a small house in Woburn Town. I knew the last Duke well, having done much work in the County with him, but I have never known this Duke well on account of his strange views on certain points, especially as to Conscientious Objectors, so that I should not like to ask favours of him & I rarely meet him. The son and heir I am glad to say has not adopted his father's views. It has turned out quite sunny this afternoon. I hope I shall soon get the hay finished and stacked. I used to know the parents of Lord Scarsdale. Hs mother married secondly a Col Hawkes, but never went to Kedleston.
