Thanks for yours. Let me deal first with you visit here. You like a Saturday. I am engaged on the 15th and 22nd inst. The first I have to attend a function connected with the Peace, & the 22nd I expect my Member to lunch with me and then proceed to a business political meeting in Bedford. What about Saturday the 29th inst, or Oct 7th proxim? Those days are (so far) free to me and I should be pleased to receive you as before. I am glad that Major is quite amiable again. I asked another dog expert yesterday about potatoes as food and he seemed to think they were not very good for dogs and produced worms in them, but a certain amount could not hurt. Another expert rider told me that he made a muzzle out of some sort of webbing which was very satisfactory. I am much interested in hearing about your purchases and "objets d'art". You must be getting quite a lot. It is long since I went to Prestwold. I used to go there for festivities such as balls, but I chiefly was impressed by the wonderful cooking of their Chef. I hope you will soon get settled as to your change of residence. It is tiresome to feel uncertain. I hope the idea will materialise. It seems attractive. I am glad you have got another job for nights, but hope it will not deprive you of too much sleep. The Trades Union seems to wish to be friendly to the government but demands obedience. It was very kind of you to remember my birthday. I had visits from several kind friends, but my sons could not come. But I hope to see them both next week - and their wives. All good wishes.
