"I am glad to get your letter and am much obliged for the photo. Can you spare it? A snap shot would have done. When can you come? I should think in these long days you could manage in a day from Loughborough to Ampthill Station. Ampthill is a small village-town of about 2,000 inhabitants. The Station about a mile away, but buses meet all trains and I am close to the Town. I would pay all expenses. I cannot find the book by Professor Richardson. I must have lent it to somebody. When it turns up you shall certainly have it. Also "Gardens for small Country Houses" by Miss Jekyll whom I know. This has a picture of Mogerhanger in it. This I will give you. I am interested to hear of your VE doings. We also had a lively time here. They danced in the Market Place most of the night. I did not do much myself in the way of decorations, as I am hidden away from the Town but that looked quite gay. When I was younger I used to stay near Loughborough with Mr.& Lady Alice Hussey Packe [sic] at Prestwold Park, Loughborough. Is that near you? I am glad you have got some more Dresden china, Unfortunately it is not a popular sort of china among connoisseurs at present but is very beautiful. I sold some lovely chandeliers and a dessert set but was glad to get rid of them before they got bombed. Much looking forward to your visit and hoping you are all well. Thanks for the photo".
