    Folio 61d - see also ABP/R11 Folio 55d - William Asshewell of Toternhoo made 5 Feb. 1544/5 pr. 21 Apr. 1545. Body to be buried in the church of Toternehoo before the image of Our Blessed Lady. To mother church of Lincoln 4d.; to high altar in Toternoo church for tithes forgotten 3s. 4d.. To the vicar and churchwardens 4 kine to hire out for 20d. a piece, to keep a yearly obit, when each churchwarden shall have 4d. To the building of the steeple £3 6s. 8d. To the making of the high way from testator's headland towards his house £3 6s. 8d.. To his wife for the term of her life half an acre of land sowed with wheat in Harsy Fyld and a half acre above Longfurlong, a half acre above Mottes and an acre in Quarry field between the balks. To his wife also an acre in Dyche land which acre, after the death of his wife, is to go to William Asshewell of Hydes. He wishes that John Asshewell shall plough the four acres and find seed whether wheat, barley or pease, and carry the harvest wherever she wishes it to go. Also to wife Elzabeth £3 6s. 8d., a score of sheep, 10 quarters of barley to be paid her the year after testator's death, 2 of the best kine. John Asshewell is to winter them each year during her lifetime. To wife half the implements in the house and in the loft over testator's chamber, and his white "curtall" horse. John Asshewell to lay her four loads of fire wood each year where she wishes it put. Wife to have half the hives, half the hens and half the ducks. He wishes sir Edmund Sterne to sing for him and for the souls of his friends and all Christians for a year, at a salary of £4 6s, 8d.. To William Hent 2 young year-old steer bullocks one black and one brown, which John Asshewell is to winter. To William Hynte 20s.. To Margaret Jane half a quarter of barley; to servant Hught half a quarter of barley; to James his shepherd half a quarter of barley; to George his servant half a quarter of barley; to Raffe two strike of barley; to servant Jone 2 strike of barley; to every one of his godchildren 4d.. To godson Thomas George and to his mother 2 quarters of barley. To William Steven of Aston a quarter of barley. Residue of goods as well as his free lands, copyholds and leases to John Asshewell, who is sole executor. Supervisor to be Master John Asshewell, and he to have 3s. 4d..
