  • Title
    [f..6] (see also ABP/R 6 f. 7d) Thomas Pers of Hockelyffe in the parish of Chalgrave, made 3 Dec.1539, pr. 4 Feb. 1539/40. Burial in church yard of Allhallows of Chalgrave. To the mother church of Lincoln 4d.; to the Holy Sacrament of parish church for tithes forgotten 2 bushels of barley; to the torches 2 bushels of barley; to the bells and upkeep of the same church 1 bushel of barley. To son Robate a yoke of bullocks of 2 years old; to son Edmund Pers a yoke of bullocks of the same age; to son Phylype a couple of two year olds; to son John a couple of yearlings; to daughter Ales a couple of year old heifers; to each of his children mentioned above a cow and a lamb and 2 quarters of barley of the next year's growing. Should any child die, then his Supervisor to divide value among the others, and should they all die half of their legacies to be used for souls, and the other half to Margret Pers testator's wife. To every child a feather bed, a bolster and a pillow, a pair of sheets, a pair of blankets, a coverlet and a covering, the share of any dying to be divided as above. He wishes that a lead, a great spit, and a pair of standing irons should remain in the house as heir looms. To wife Margret his best featherbed with every thing belonging to it. Other goods to be used to pay his debts etc., and the residue of goods to remain to wife Margrate. Executors John Stringer of Linslade and Edmund [blank] of Hockelyffe in the parish of Chalgrave, each to have 3s. 4d., and Robart Fayrforde of Chalgrave to be Supervisor, he to have 4s.. Witnesses sir John Osbornbe, vicar of Chalgrave, Phillipe Stringar, John Gefferson, Richard Stookes.
