    [f. 4] (see also ABP/R 6 f. 5) John Newolde of Kempston, made 20 May 1539 proved 13 Nov. 1539. Burial in the church yard of Kempston. To mother church of Lincoln 2d., to high altar in Kempston 4d.; half a trental to be said for souls of testator and all Christians in Kempston church On the day of his burial 15 dozen of bread for poor people to be done for souls. To the Sepulchre light 8d.; to the Rood light 8d.; to the upkeep of the bells 8d.; to the maintenance of the torch light 4d.; to repair Bulles Layne 12d.. To daughter Ellin 2 kine; to daughter Agnes a cow; to son Thomas 2 steers and 2 kine, also a copyholding called Rossells which is held of Master Graye, of which the surrender to the use of Thomas is in the hands of William Newolde. The remainder of his copyholdings to son Ranold. However, should either Ranolde or Thomas die before they have any issue, each should be heir of the other. Wife Alis to have her dwelling in his house for her lifetime. Residue to wife Alys, who is executrix with William Newolde executor, he to have 6s. 8d.
