Letter from Rooper & Whately at 17 Lincolns Inn Fields, London to John Thomas Green: "Mr.Lawrence Birch has requested us to take the necessary steps for conversion of £10,471.5/2 Consols under his Marriage Settlement Trust. We enclose the form, which you will observe Mr.Powell has already signed and would ask you to kindly sign and return it to us, when we will obtain Mr.Whalley's signature. He is at present out of England. You are no doubt aware that a Commission of 1.6 per cent is paid by the Bank of England on these matters, but the Rules preclude any Stockholder personally receiving Commission. If agreeable to yourself, however, we should be happy to credit you with one half the amount we receive on the present conversion"
