Conveyance by Lease and Release from William Gresham of Barnards Inn, Holborn, gent., (as in BORDV13/15) to Robert Thorp of St.Albans (Herts.), esq., of (a) capital messuage or mansion house etc. as in BORDV13/15(a): described as late of, inter alia, William Gresham (father of the releasor) and now of his widow Martha (as in BORDV13/17-18). (b) close of pasture etc called the Priory as in BORDV13/15/(b): described etc. as (a). Habendum: to RT and his heirs to the following uses etc viz to appointees of RT and in default of such to RT and his assigns for life remainder to George Thorp of Hemel Hempstead (Herts.), grocer, and his heirs during the life of RT upon trust for RT, his heirs and assigns (to the intent that the present or future wife of RT may not be entitled to dower), remainder to RT in fee. Indemnity clause excepts rents, fires and services due and payable to the chief lord(s) of the fee. Consideration: £1,950. 10-11 Oct 1823.
