  • Title
    Probate of will of Robert Crawley of Dunstable, 'doctor in Phisick'. Gives and bequeathes to his wife Joan and her heirs for ever: (a) his manor or mansion ('manshirt') house, situated in the S. end of Dunstable, called 'Dame Sayres' with barns, stables, outhouses, gardens, orchards and premises belonging to the same; and with a piece of ground (c. 5 acs.) called the 'Pryory'. Gives and bequeathes to his wife Joan, under and upon the conditions in the lease, to her sole use and benefit as he had and possessed the same: (b) his lease of Berrystead in Kensworth which he farms and rents of the Dean and Chapter of St. Paul's London. Gives and bequeathes to his wife Joan all his personal estate charged with payment of legacies of 20s. a piece to his 5 children John, Elizabeth, Mary, Martha and Catherine. Nominates and appoints Joan as sole executrix. 30 Nov 1694. Witnesses: Bryant Simkins, Ralph Slater and John Pomfrett. Probate at P.C.C., 21 Jan 1694/5.
