  • Title
Letter from John Charles Fowler in Eastbourne [Sussex] to John Thomas Green: "I am in receipt of your letter of yesterday. I was not aware that the Toddington Property was to be sold. As such is the case I suppose Mrs.Smart has agreed to accept a Government Security in lieu of the Annuity chargeable upon the above Estate. I heard from my brother Henry this morning & judging from his letter I should imagine that he will be at Woburn in time to give you instructions with regard to the reserve price as he requested me, in the event of my wishing to write to him to address my letter to Woburn. I have of course had no opportunity of conferring with any of my Brothers upon the subject, but should you receive no instructions from Henry I would suggest that the reserve price subject to your approval should be eight Hundred Pounds £800 - as that is the sum it was supposed to be worth when it came into our possession"
